Our Mission & Vision
In collaboration with partner agencies, PDX Diaper Bank provides diapers and diapering supplies to low-income families with young children, older adults, and individuals with disabilities living in Portland and the surrounding areas.
We believe that everyone – babies, children, and adults – should have access to necessary diapering supplies in order to live healthy and productive lives, as well as ease financial strain during the pursuit of personal, educational, and professional success.
Our Leadership Our ImpactOur History
PDX Diaper Bank was founded June 1, 2012 in response to the strong presence of #DiaperNeed on a local (and national) level. After experiencing diaper need following the birth of her first daughter in 2008, and realizing that there were no government programs to assist families with the high costs of diapering supplies, Rachel Alston launched the organization in order to provide aid to individuals experiencing similar financial strain and hardships.
PDX Diaper Bank began diaper distribution to the community in April 2013 in collaboration with its first partner organization in the service network, Teen Parent Services (Portland Public Schools). PDX Diaper Bank now has a growing network of nonprofits in its service network in order to bridge the diaper gap in Portland and the surrounding areas!
